Pittsburg Lake 7/23/10

Since Friday July 23 was a state holiday (Pioneer Day) here in Utah I had the day off work (2nd three day weekend in two weeks), I decided to do the hike up to Pittsburgs Lake in American Fork Canyon (has some mining history behind). After seeing a few trip reports or two it seemed like it would be worth the visit. After getting lost I made it to the trail head around 11 am to start the steep mile and half hike to the lake.

The trail can just be barely seen to the right of the photo.

The trail that leads up to the lake is steep and rocky for the first half of the trail.

Nearing the lake

Ye, olde raft and yes she still floats

Last remaining structure at Pittsburg Lake from its mining days

I wonder how much longer this structure will remain standing with the left side slowly giving away.

Inside the old structure

Piers are the only thing that remain of this structure.
